Everything that was cowardly and abject was proclaimed noble. Meanness became a duty. Anything that does not request or create any human quality, anything that takes the place of desire and imagination to those who have no desire or imagination, became a requirement. Anything that makes life wonderful hateful was proclaimed. The resentment finally became the engine of history.
And the strange desire to never end: revenge on future generations.
