The famous Caminito in the district of La Boca
Before making an assessment, I want the week we spent in El Chalten , an isolated village at the foot of two of the most famous mountains of Patagonia: Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy.
From right to left: the vertices Fitz Roy, Egger and Saint-Exupery
At a latitude of 49 degrees south, climatic conditions are harsh: a wind dehorn ox 24 / 24 (sometimes it was even difficult to stand) and a lot of rain and overcast. Seven days in El Chalten, it was really nice just two days, and I think we can consider ourselves lucky, because many leave without being able to see the Fitz Roy, whose summit is often obscured by clouds. In the company of Mark and Elizabeth, joined us for the last part of our trip, we were able to make beautiful walks and we approach these two mountains "mythical." As for the climb, he was not even question we leave that to climbers (I should say "mountaineers") veteran, who sometimes wait for weeks on a beach weather.
And the days of bad weather, what have we done? Not much: read, play cards, try the local beer and chat with other residents of the hostel. The whole world passes in El Chalten, who converted in recent years into a destination Phares touristiques d'Australie, alors ce village to fund fut seulement il ya douze ans! D'ailleurs, il est encore à in the phase of construction: Certaines rues ne sont pas encore d'Asphalt recouvertes et l'ensemble retains a hétéroclites.
